Founded by Bob Gaglardi in 1963, Sandman Hotel Group has deep roots in Canadian hospitality. With a $5000 loan and a bold vision, Bob established Northland Properties Incorporated with the intention of building hotels and restaurants where people could come together to experience exceptional customer service.

Since opening our first hotel in Smithers, BC, in 1967, we have grown into a proud family-run business, now led by Bob’s son Tom. Today, you will find us across Canada–from St Johns to Vancouver–with over 60 hotels across Canada, the UK, Ireland, and the USA.

We can’t wait to welcome you to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia! Our new, 212-room hotel on Wilkinson Avenue is the latest addition to the Sandman Hotel Group chain. We understand that any organization submitting a request has a compelling community need, and we kindly ask the following stated guidelines are met: 

The mission of the non-profit organization must be to serve and enhance communities, by providing health and human services, education, arts and culture, or community development initiatives. 

  • All donations/sponsorships must focus on communities where the Sandman Hotel Group has a presence. 
  • Charities must have legal charitable status. 
  • Donations are to be used for the sole benefit of the eligible institution and are restricted to the use of the project for which the donation is being made.
